EDUCATIONAL SERVICES

Training Teachers to Inspire Young Minds: Educational Services

Our outdoor education experts can provide school districts or schools a half-day, full-day or after-school professional development session for teachers, equipping them to use a school garden - or simply the outdoors - as a classroom.  Our educators will prepare and deliver this training based on your school’s teaching objectives, and consider your specific garden design or natural elements within or surrounding your schoolyard.

Our educators will share standards-correlated lessons appropriate for outdoor inquiry, as well as strategies for classroom management outside.  Our professional development sessions provide a unique and intensive immersion in outdoor teaching that results in greater and more effective use of school gardens to facilitate children's academic and personal growth.

REAL School Gardens is a Texas Education Agency-certified provider of CPE credits and has seven years of expertise in training teachers using TEKS-based curriculum.  Some examples of trainings we have facilitated include: Digging for the TEKS, Question the System: Alternative Energy in the Outdoor Classroom, A Garden of Writers, Compost Compilations and The Art and Science of School Gardens.

If you have any questions, would like pricing or more information about these services or other ways that REAL School Gardens can support your community, please contact Jeff Cross at jcross@realschoolgardens.org.

Note: Our current capacity allows us to offer these services on a limited basis to school districts and individual schools, primarily in the North Texas region.
