REAL SUPPORTER: MERCEDES-BENZ FINANCIAL SERVICES

REAL School Gardens is proud to partner with Mercedes-Benz Financial Services to help students succeed by creating learning gardens and training teachers how to use them.

For the past three years, our partnership has provided more than 1,000 children with an innovative, hands-on outdoor education program proven to boost academic achievement, particularly in math and science.  More than 90 educators now have access to easy-to-use lesson plans and training opportunities proven to help them get their students excited and engaged in learning.

As part of their Week Of Caring, more than 140 Mercedes-Benz Financial Services volunteers came together to create an outdoor classroom for the children of at Burton Hill Elementary on May 10, 2013. Working side-by-side with teachers, parents and children, they created a state-of-the-art learning garden in just one day.  At 8 AM, volunteers converged on an empty lot and added native perennials,  organic vegetable beds, small wildlife habitats, a rainwater catchment system, a composting station and more.

Burton Hill Elementary School will use its new outdoor classroom to teach Science, Math, Language Arts environmental stewardship and leadership skills, while giving children access to fresh and organic food. This learning garden is also designated as a Suzy Peacock Friendship Circle Garden, named in memory of REAL School Gardens’ founder, Suzanne Rall Peacock.

We are grateful for the generous support of Mercedes-Benz Financial Services, recipients of our Perennial Partner of The Year Award for Tarrant County, Spring 2013.

WHAT MBFS IS SAYING...

"Mercedes-Benz Financial Services has been a long-term partner with REAL School Gardens in Fort Worth, and we're proud to support hands-on learning for our community’s children."
-Jennifer Korman, Community Relations for Mercedes Benz Financial Services

"I'm back in the office, exhausted, but proud of the work we accomplished yesterday. Our group moved tons of dirt and rock (very literally) by shovel and wheel barrow to build some really great raised flower beds and walkways for the kids. I've been with the company for almost 14 years now, and I have seen many moments that have made me proud of this organization. Yesterday was one of the best! The entire elementary school, kids and staff, met our bus with cheers and posters to welcome our arrival. It was AWESOME!"

-Project Manager, Mercedes-Benz Financial Services
