The bi-annual Butterflies in the Garden event is returning to the Botanic Gardens and BRIT in March 2012, and to mark the return of this event BRIT is excited to host a workshop celebrating the role of pollinators in Texas. This workshop is open to all K-5 grade educators, and is highly recommenced for educators taking their students through the BITG field trip.
Participants will:
- expand their understanding of our native plants and the pollinators they attract.
- recognize local pollinators, their habitats and roles in the local environment.
- learn how to create habitats for native pollinators.
- gain a better understanding of what effects butterfly behaviors.
- recognize adaptations of pollinators and plants that allow for pollination.
- be introduced to activities that reinforce the life cycle of insects (metamorphosis).
For more information about this workshop, please contact Tracy Friday at tfriday@brit.org. You may download the event flyer here.
