REAL Stories: Thank You REAL School Gardens Volunteers!

Volunteers are found at the core of every successful nonprofit organization, and REAL School Gardens is no exception to that.  Without the dedicated service offered by our community volunteers, we would be much further away from accomplishing our mission of creating learning gardens that grow successful students. REAL School Gardens would like to send out a well-deserved, special “Thank You” to each individual who has generously donated their time and service to help install and sustain beautiful, dynamic school gardens, provide garden support for North Texas elementary schools and administrative and special event support to REAL School Gardens.  Our great volunteers’ work keeps our gardens – and the children who learn in them – growing!

REAL School Gardens works with a diverse volunteer pool and many dedicated partners, in collaboration with public elementary schools communities (including educators, parents, area business partners and community members) and we are very grateful for every single one of them.  With your help during the 2011-2012 school year, 1,634 of you have dedicated and served over 2,681 hours to support 81 schools in the North Texas region.  This support was shown through a variety of ways such as installing new learning gardens at high poverty elementary schools, rejuvenating and maintaining existing elementary learning gardens, providing administrative support in our Fort Worth business office, providing special event support for REAL School Gardens, and offering business consulting for our nonprofit organization.  All of these forms of support have ensured that more than 45,000 children and over 2,700 educators have daily access to nature through school learning gardens.  Our gardens have been shown to improve children’s lives by boosting academic achievement, nurturing healthy lifestyles, cultivating life skills and promoting environmental stewardship.

On behalf of REAL School Gardens, THANK YOU SO MUCH!
